Apple iPhone 14 Availability as of Nov 6

by | Nov 6, 2022 | TSB

Attached are the latest availability charts for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. As a reminder, we are in the eighth week of availability of both models. Usually by the 10th or 11th week, with the exception of a featured color, the backlogs should have normalized.

The iPhone 14 Pro is experiencing carrier-specific shortages, with many colors/ memory combinations available at each carrier. Silver is in short supply this year regardless of storage size and carrier (9 of 12 storage color/ memory options are backlogged at least a week). Deep Purple (a featured color with this model) is 8 out of 12. And, as we saw last week, AT&T has a color/ memory combination that is “out of stock” online (Gold, 128 GB storage). Interestingly, there are less supply issues for the iPhone 14 Pro at Spectrum Mobile (Xfinity Mobile from Comcast has backlogs that mirror the Big 3 wireless carriers) – not quite sure what that means, but thought it was worth noting.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is constrained for everyone. Not surprisingly, the focus is keeping the entry level (128 GB) model in stock. Beyond that, it’s a long wait that appears (with few exceptions) to be getting longer. Our initial thought was that Thanksgiving would be the week where the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would be generally available. That is now looking like the week of December 19. As we have described in previous years of iPhone analysis, there’s a volume impact (total sales of a particular model line) if availability is constrained the last two weeks of December.

More to come in next week’s Brief. Full files are below.
