iPhone backlogs grew rather than shank this week. There were a few bright spots (a color/ memory combination that was suddenly in stock), but availability continues to be a challenge overall. As we have seen in previous weeks, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has the greatest challenges, with at least 75% of the color/ size combinations at least a month backlogged.
T-Mobile seems to have a slight advantage on iPhone 14 Pro availability as the picture above shows. The ability to offer even at least one color (gold) on a short timeframe is critical to attracting switchers. How sustainable this is remains to be seen, but switching prospects are brighter at Magenta than Ma Bell.
More to come in next week’s Brief. The problem remains, with a few availability dates extending into 2023. Not a good sign for the quarter if week-for-week slips continue.
