iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max Availability: Oct 25 and Nov 1

A slight twist to previous weeks, but generally availabilty is coming in for a landing on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Here are the charts for the iPhone 17 Pro:

iPhone 17 Pro availability as of Oct 25 1
iPhone 17 Pro as of Nov 1

We are now seven weeks into the iPhone 17 Pro cycle. There are nine total SKUs (3 colors, 3 memory sizes). For T-Mobile, seven of nine SKUs are generally available (the two laggards are both Silver which has been an issues throughout the iPhone 17 Pro release). Also seven for Verizon and AT&T. Not quite all nine available across the board as we have seen in previous launches entering week eight, but reports of some sort of supercycle are overstated.

Let’s look at the iPhone 17 Pro Max cycle:

iPhone 17 Pro Max availability as of Oct 25 1
iPhone 17 Pro Max as of Nov 1

There are twelve SKUs for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. T-Mobile has nine of twelve widely available, Verizon also has nine, and AT&T a mere four. Of special interest is AT&T, who has meaningful shortages of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Remember – at this point in the cycle, Apple will have spread any color/ memory size risk over all of the North American carriers. This is why the AT&T shortage is particularly interesting.

In the past, when there have been shortages with a carrier with a Pro Max lineup, it has been because of:

  1. One or more unforecasted business orders (AT&T has FirstNet growth so this is entirely possible)
  2. A carrier-based supply chain glitch (which is usually corrected in a week)
  3. A unique upgrade promotion (there has not been any announced per Wave 7 Research)

We are going to ascribe the AT&T difference to a carrier-specific issue. The return to general availability, whch we expected by his week for the iPhone 17 Pro and by November 14 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, is nearly complete. Bottom line: This has been a good selling season (compared against a dismal iPhone 16 cycle) but no blockbuster.
